Continuous Learning – The HMI Curriculum

Paul DelFino & Jesse Swetlik

Know how, expertise and experience are the keys to success in any trade. For the artisans who lift and level concrete this is especially true since every lift in every project is different. Early on HMI realized that the success of their customers would be based on the training and continuous support provided. Over time HMI has created a training curriculum and support mechanism that cannot be matched in the industry which includes:

The 2 Day Discovery & Training Seminar – This industry acclaimed event is held monthly all over the country. Designed for entrepreneurs who are thinking of entering the business, it includes: an overview of the basics of the trade, hands on operation of the equipment, estimating and pricing, marketing and more. Participants leave capable of doing the work.

HMI University – This three-day program is conducted at HMI headquarters nearly monthly and focusing on operation of the equipment and doing the work. It is the perfect program for individuals who have been doing the work to hone their skills or for newly promoted crew chiefs or new hires. The focus of the training is on equipment operation, equipment maintenance, project planning and project execution. As with all HMI training it is hands on with practice in techniques. The program also exposes participants to deep Foamjection and Fillfoam installation.

HMI Advanced Training – This one-day annual event  is offered at HMI Wisconsin Headquarters (usually early summer), focuses on deep injection (Deep Foamjection), void filling with Fillfoam and other advanced techniques. It often includes participation in an actual customer project.

Account Manager Project Support – HMI offers FREE and unlimited account management support for its customers. Whether it be project planning, equipment maintenance, or simply where to drill a hole, customers are encouraged to use photos, phone or video conferencing to tap into the expertise of the account management team. Every interaction with your account manager should evolve into a training experience.

RaiseRite Crew Shadowing– We’re happy to have you shadow crews on residential job sites. You may find it convenient to schedule this before or after your two day Discovery & Training Seminar, or when you pick up your HMI system. Of course, we’re always happy to see you, so feel free to schedule crew shadowing anytime between April-November.

Engineering Support – Larger and many governmental projects may require engineering support. Whether it be soil compaction or load capacity calculations HMI has resources on hand to help. Sometimes it is merely engineers talking to engineers in the same language that is required to get the project moving. Customers are encouraged to participate in these dialogues and to familiarize themselves with the materials provided as a learning experience.

We estimate that the HMI team has participated in over 100,000 projects. Chances are whatever our clients run into we have an answer. Having said that, each member of the team would honestly share we are learning daily as well. Life is continuous learning and HMI will provide the environments and contacts to do its part to contribute to yours.
