Ground improvement becomes essential when construction sites or structures encounter weak, compressible, or compromised soils that cannot support the planned loads or performance requirements. Both natural and human-induced factors – such as increased loading, water leaks, infiltration, and fluctuating water levels – can lead to unintended settlement or erosion. These processes can result in significant issues like structural settlement, void formation, soil loss (piping), and even sinkholes.
Permeation grouting is a proven method for enhancing the strength and stability of granular soils. This technique involves the low-pressure injection of a grout material into the soil’s pore spaces, solidifying the treated area to improve the soil’s strength and load-bearing capacity. Grout materials may consist of cement-based mixtures or chemical solutions with customizable properties.
Soil Link products by HMI are specialized chemical grouts designed specifically for permeation grouting applications. Formulated to perform across a variety of soil types and site conditions, these chemical grouts offer unmatched versatility. Low-viscosity formulations enable easy penetration into fine-grained soils, while flexible grouts are ideal for sealing joints or preventing water infiltration. Reaction times can be adjusted on-site to suit specific project needs, ensuring optimal performance. Depending on the soil conditions and project scope, chemical grouts can be selected to expand aggressively, moderately, or not at all. This flexibility allows for the use of multiple grout materials to create a fully customized solution with HMI Soil Link products.

This line of single-component hydro-activated polyurethane foam is for permeation grouting. With minimal expansive pressures and adjustable reaction times, this expanding line currently has two products: HS010 and HS020LV. HS010, a semi-flexible foam designed for used in porous soils such as gravels or for sealing joints and gaps where displacement is possible. HS020LV, a semi-rigid foam with low viscosity designed to infiltrate less permeable granular soils. Requires Soil Link Single Component Equipment for installation. Not sure which product to choose for your project? Give HMI a call.
For Permeation Grouting:
This permeation grout line contains an acrylate grout that solidifies into a gel with little to no expansion. Acrylate grouts, commonly referred to as acrylate gels, are ideal for soil stabilization and groundwater seepage control. The acrylate grout is designed with a super low viscosity to penetrate lower permeability soils. Requires Soil Link Acrylate Grout Equipment for installation. Not sure which product to choose for your project? Give HMI a call.
For Permeation Grouting:
For ground improvement needs beyond permeation grouting. High Density Polyurethane foam can increase soil strength with high expansion pressure. Available in standard or fast reaction times. Requires the same polyurethane reactor equipment used for concrete lifting and leveling. Not sure which product to choose for your project? Give HMI a call.
